Receivers
Our MN and MNS series receivers are the original, light weight, super sensitive and easy to use receivers. These abilities define our receivers for use by many different types of hunters, researchers and biologists.
Size:
Sleek, light weight aluminum receivers that will not rust or corrode are still among the smallest receivers today.
Sensitivity:
Analog tuning makes it possible to tune in the transmitter to within 10 hertz, exactly where it is most powerful, an advantage over digital scanners and receivers that can only get within 1 kilohertz (that means 100 times more accuracy.) An analog meter is used and is also far more sensitive than just audio from the speaker or digital meters, which only mimic a true needle meter.
Ease of Use:
Unlike other receivers our attenuator is built into the gain, eliminating the need for high-medium-low switches and a third knob. All you need to do is adjust the gain and tuning so that you get full deflection on the meter, and when you are too far out you can track by the audio when the gain is maxed as the attenuator automatically switches off. Two 9-volt batteries in the receiver ensures you have a backup when out in the field and a battery goes dead.
MNS-4000 Receiver
MNS-4000 Receiver
The MNS-4000 Receiver is the newest version from F&L Electronics. Newly designed digital circuitry is at the core of this powerful new model. Along with providing better sensitivity, less interference and more noise suppression than any other model, the MNS-4000 also provides four bands of frequency coverage, from 216.000 MHz to 219.999 MHz. Like all of our receivers, the MNS-4000 has a narrowed tuning range that helps to eliminate noise and provides superior tone on any transmitter being tracked.
More Channels:
The MNS-4000 has 400, 10 kHz Channels, covering a 4000 kHz span! It's all about more trackable frequencies in a smaller, time proven and reliable package.
As an added bonus, the MNS-4000 includes the Dual Function Meter, a lighted meter with a battery tester. This is normally an optional feature for $25.00.
Also Available: The MNS-100
The MNS-100 allows you to track an entire frequency band. For example 216.000 to 216.999MHz. Virtually, this allows you up to 100 channels of coverage. Call for availability.
Optional: Add the Dual Function Meter (DFM) for $25.00. This will give you a lighted meter with a battery tester.
Why the MNS 4000?
Scanner Receivers:
A distinct advantage of the MNS 4000 over scanner type receivers is its sensitivity. Scanner type receivers are designed to receive radio broadcasts sent at significantly higher power than the FCC allows any tracking transmitter to utilize. This in turn means that scanner receivers are far less sensitive, many over 30db (roughly ten times) less sensitive!GPS Tracking:
GPS tracking systems are also at a disadvantage when compared to traditional radio location systems in the field. GPS systems guzzle batteries and you will be limited to a mere 24 hours of tracking time before having to replace batteries. This is bad news when a dog has gone missing. Despite this, the GPS systems also have far less range, maximum range of GPS systems is 5-7 miles (but typically much less) with line of sight whereas our traditional radio tracking systems can easily surpass 20 miles in range and last for months without battery replacement.
